Pac 10 Preview

Washington State, Arizona and UCLA all hired coaches, which is great news for the Pac 10. Arizona hired former Colorado and Boise State Head Coach, pakeli who has acquired 310 career wins, including an Elite Eight appearance last season. UCLA hired rc1990 who recently was the Coach at Vanderbilt for four seasons after winning the National Championship while coaching at Southern Mississippi. Washington State hired ljfry from South Arkansas, a division 2 school where he coached for 8 years and won 12 National Tournament games.

USC had a ton of scholarships and did a good job filling them. Their best recruit is arguably either David Tejeda or George Brewer. Both of the Arizona schools had a handful of scholarships and did a good job filling them, Arizona landed star William Jenkins, while Arizona State landed Peter Apple. Oregon only had three scholarships and landed 3 solid players with each, their class was lead by shooting guard Stephen Beehler and power forward James Willis.

This conference returns some dominant players, including Silas Jackson of Oregon, Robert Salcido and Floyd Hinson of California, Fernando Martinez of Stanford, James Stanfield of Hawaii and last year's FOTY, Mike Jordan of Fresno State.

They got a lot of young talent, David Tejeda, George Brewer, the list goes on…

2

Stanford

3

Salvador Ramos

Ramos is a stud; he could be starting for most teams…

3

Arizona

5

William Jenkins

This ranking is almost solely due to Jenkins, what a talent… Paul Oswald will be good…

4

Oregon

3

James Willis

Stephen Beehler needs some time to develop… Wills still needs some work on the glass but he could earn solid minutes in a crowded front court…

5

Arizona State

4

Peter Apple

Apple is going to be a good point guard but where is he going to get playing time?...

6

UCLA

5

Arturo Martin

Martin has a lot of additional skills to go along with his power forward set he should be a dandy to watch take his game to the next level…

7

Washington State

2

Chad Skelton

Skelton is going to be a serious talent in a few years…

8

Hawaii

4

They have a lot of good young talent, they will continue to grow throughout the season, watch out…
Xi-Wang Xaimoungkhoun and Mike Jordan are 2 of the best power forwards in the nation and they play together… Oregon could win this conference if Fresno plays inconsistently… Silas Jackson is a beast down low… James Stanfield could be the best player in the conference; they need to feed him the ball… William Pilkington is a great setup man for Stanfield and runs the offense very well… Ronald Smith needs to step up if they are going to be successful this year; Curtis Hoosier needs someone to feed… David Lanz is their best player, after him there really isn't much else… Freshmen Chad Skelton could step in and start for them day 1… Oregon State needs to hire a coach…

They have the pieces to win a National Title this year… Floyd Hinson is phenomenal, you are so worried about (Robert) Salcido inside you forget about him sometimes… Fernando Martinez leads this group of seniors who look get back to the level they were at two seasons ago… Fernando Martinez was a great catch… Very young team this year at Southern Cal… Schumacher and Geiger are the leaders of what will most likely be an inconsistent team at times… Timothy Cannon has yet to hit superstar status, but the tools are there… Nothing spectacular for UCLA in recruiting but some very solid players… Andrew Witherspoon is this team's top weapon… Peter Apple should be a good starting point given time to develop… William Jenkins is the Wildcat's only solid player, the program is on the rise though…
